Net-Sec is a log-on solution which prevents unauthorised persons gaining access to confidential data available through a computer network.
Net-Sec uses biometrics to uniquely identify persons attempting to gain access to the system. This method of identification is considerably more accurate than conventional methods like passwords or PINs).
Biometrics ensures that a person is actually a sanctioned user, and not in possession of a stolen card someone has found, or hacked or cracked a password.
Net-Sec requires the user to be verified before they can access the PC’s network. Protecting the network layer involves the physical network layer and controlling the PC connection to the network. Assuming the system being protected is a client server application, all data is stored on fileserver(s) accessible via the network. Hence by controlling access to the network we are effectively controlling data access.
Net-Sec comprises of PC hardware, specialist hardware (Cogent IP biometric finger print readers) and custom software. These enrol users onto the system. The enrolment process involves producing a biometric template for each user and storing it against the user’s identification credentials.
