K-interactive is the highest specification custodial locking solution available in the custodial market. K-Interactive is the outcome of a joint venture involving Pickersgill-Kaye (the UK experts on mechanical lock design) and Core (Belfast-based experts on electronic control solutions for the Prison sector).
K-Interactive literally sets new standards for custodial locking. The new SS317 standard accurately measures the lock’s resistance to willful damage, physical security, ergonomics, cyclic testing and performance in a hostile environment.
K-Interactive lock control software enables remote management of doors and other devices from designated control points. It is a real time system enabling users to see what’s happening as it happens. It also displays lock status, generating alerts if a tamper condition arises. A view of each lock’s current status is available via the control console. Touch screen consoles have a display based on a map showing location and status of the access points under control. This enables large areas to be monitored from a single control point.
Features
- Real-Time Display and Control – The system displays a definable map of the location showing all doors under control and their current status. Using the touch screen interface the operator may take control of any defined door.
- Complete Audit Trail of Events – Every event within the system is recorded in an audit trail along with alarms and operator actions. Authorised personnel can view the full event history.
- Proximity Tags – Proximity tag readers are built into each lock. Tag holders can open doors without operator intervention according to the software programmable access rules.
- Multi-layer Control – Multiple layers of control are available as the characteristics of each console can be uniquely defined. This facilitates a hierarchy of control making it possible for master control points to remove control from secondary level points or to override the interlock system.
- Door Interlocking – The system enables doors to be grouped together and rules regarding open conditions to be applied, e.g., to allow one door of the group to be unlocked at a time. The interlock groups are fully (software) programmable, requiring no physical changes to the system.
- System Resilience – The full Controller Module implementation has a high degree of system resilience. The battery backup enables 72 hours of stand-alone operation with enough memory to store 5000 events and 5000 user details.
- Integrated Intercom – The system can interface with an intercom system and provide the operator with both audio and video to communicate with the person trying to gain access at the selected door.
- Complete Cell Management – K-Interactive integrates with Core’s One Touch to provide a single control interface to manage all security and cell management devices, i.e. locks, hatches, intercom, electrical and water supplies, cameras, cell call and intercoms. The cell management software facilitates cell occupancy, electronic tag management and interlocking relationships.
- Optional Biometric Login to Console – Each console can be protected with biometric login to restrict access to authorised personnel. There is also an automatic timed logout if the console isn’t used within a predefined time period.
Benefits
- Improved Safety – Users can take remote control of electronic devices (i.e. doors) in incident aversion and containment.
- Improved Accountability – An audit trail within the system records all events i.e. when a door or hatch opens along with alarms and operator actions. This allows management of issues such as timed observations and cell calls, with independent proof of staff response times.
- Reduce Administration Overhead – Records of events can be auto generated i.e. door control events and alarm acknowledgements. This information can also be transferred to other systems hence reducing double entry and replication of data.
- Operational Security – The system provides users with greater situational awareness when responding to incidents. It facilitates a hierarchy of control making it possible for a central control location to remove control from a secondary level point during an incident. Lost or compromised electronic keys or tags can instantly be disabled from the console.
