IMpro is a photographic / image processing system that allows criminal justice agencies to capture and store digital images for identification and investigative purposes. The system facilitates a secure central database of images and related data and maintains a full audit trail of images and print requests.
IMpro overcomes the shortcomings associated with traditional photography methods. The inefficiencies related to photographer error and the delays in processing a film are removed. It offers a better, faster, cheaper solution than conventional methods. Since there is no film involved, the costs associated with the purchase and processing of film is eliminated. The digital image is captured and can be previewed in real time allowing unsuitable photographs to be readily identified and easily retaken. Multiple images can be stored to display different profiles i.e. with or without glasses. IMpro can also store information about the individual including personal details, identifying features and charge information etc.
Currently operated in the prison sector, IMpro is used as part of the inmate committal process producing a set of photo-ID cards for inmate identification. Definable templates enable custom print designs to be generated for other uses – wanted posters, mug shots, and photo line-ups.
Features
- Image Capture – IMpro facilitates image capture from a range of industry standard high-resolution digital cameras, which can be either attached to a PC or used stand-alone.
- Image Processing – Image-processing tools enable users to zoom, crop and resize images. IMpro has a facility were alphanumeric captions can be attached to images.
- Image Printing – Images can be displayed or printed locally at any location connected to the server storing the images. IMpro produces print quality colour output to a range of devices from low-end inkjet printers to specialist card printers.
- Image Tracking – Images are tracked through the entire life cycle from capture to destruction. The status and location of each image is available in the audit report. Movement / transfer of images between sites are also recorded.
- Full Audit – IMpro provides full audit trails of all prints taken, including who took the image, who produced the prints and the date/time of when prints took place.
- Security – Access from workstations is controlled using fingerprint recognition technology. User access level control (i.e. supervisor / general user) is definable by a set of privileges. Touch screen technology is used at the image capture stage, enabling ease of use and enhanced system security.
